Brighton & Hove Camera Club Health and Safety policy
Whilst we are advised by the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, of which the Club is a member, that camera clubs do not come under the scope of Health and Safety legislation, the Club does have a Health and Safety policy which is as follows:

Fire and Evacuation:
At the beginning of each meeting, those in attendance should be made aware of the location of emergency exits and whether or not any fire alarm tests are scheduled to be carried out during the progress of the meeting. Members should also be made aware of the location of the assembly point should evacuation of the building be required. Members leaving before the end of the meeting must sign out on the appropriate sheet to avoid the emergency services having to make a fruitless search of the premises.
In the event of a fire members must
The Club’s electrical equipment will be PAT tested at regular intervals.
Anyone using the Club’s equipment must be competent to do so without placing themselves or the Club at risk.
Trip hazards from trailing wires will be mitigated by the use of cable covers.
Those who help the Club in the Canteen must note the safety notices in the Church kitchen and abide by that guidance.
In the event of an accident a member of the Committee must be informed and they will decide on the appropriate course of action to take, which may involve summoning external help.
