We collect your personal information only when you elect to join Brighton & Hove Camera Club in order for us to maintain a club membership list. Brighton & Hove Camera Club will never sell, rent or give away any of your personal information.
No data is passed to third party organisations. It is only ever used within the club for our own administrative needs.

Brighton and Hove Camera Club may request to hold certain personal data about club member collected as part of the membership\renewal process:
The data is stored in a database on a secure commercial website hosting facility that also hosts the club’s website.
Permission to hold this data will be sought as part of the membership\renewal process.
Who is responsible for safeguarding the data.
The Membership Secretary is responsible for the accuracy and storage of the data and how it is used.
What it is used for and how it is controlled.
The data is used to compile:
Weekly Door Registers – Name Only – To record who attends the club meetings. This is needed as a fire regulation to ‘call the register’ in case of a fire evacuation.
Group Emails Addresses – Used to communicate with members: see below under Email communications.
The Club Secretary and Club Officers – May be given details to enable them to contact individual member if requested.
The data is used on the club’s public website to give the name of a club member that submits an image entered into a club competition or for display. No other personal data is displayed.
The Membership Secretary has stewardship of the Register List and Group Email Addresses and grants access as needed to the Club Secretary and Club Officers if needed.
How long it is retained.
Personal data details are retained for as long as an individual remains a member of Brighton and Hove Camera Club.
If a member leaves the club -or- fails to renew their membership for a new season – their data is deleted. No archive copy is kept.
How to review, amend or remove.
An individual’s data belongs to them and will only be held if permission is given as part of the membership\renewal process.
Personal data held about an individual can be reviewed by them and may be amended or removed upon request to the Membership Secretary.
Your email address as supplied to us upon joining BHCC is used for administrative & information purposes only. Group Email Addresses are ‘blind’ meaning that individual’s email address details are not shown or accessible through them. Only Club Officers with a legitimate need can send emails by the Group Email Addresses
BHCC does sometimes use automated mailing software to communicate with you about activities you have requested to be part of (such as Specific Interest Groups, Treasure Hunt etc). The software will allow us to see if the email has been sent/opened and may save a cookie to your computer’s hard drive but will not store, save or collect personal information. Every email produced by this software has an option to unsubscribe.
If you do not want to receive e-mail or other mail from us, please let us know. You can communicate with us using any of the methods shown at the end of this policy statement.
BHCC may also use third party companies to communicate with the membership. You may choose not to use these platforms at your own discretion.
The Brighton & Hove Camera Club does not use software to track visitor statistics. However, when you log into our website the website will place cookie onto your system. We do not use these cookies to track your activity. They are a function of the website platform only.
All modern browsers have tools to help you delete or block cookies. But it’s important to remember that many websites need cookies in order to function properly.
