The New 2010-2011 Season's Meetings start Tuesday September 14th

It's only two short weeks till our exciting new 2010-2011 season of meetings begins at Hove Methodist Hall. We are now maintaining a long waiting list of prospective new members, so it is very important for members from last season who intend to renew to do so promptly and by October 1st by the latest. Membership form and subscription fee details are here.

Many potential members on the waiting list have been invited to attend the first meeting of the season by email.

If you want to newly join the club and are either not on the waiting list currently or have not been invited to our first meeting, you will have to wait for a period of time for us to assess this years membership numbers. Numbers of people at the club meetings are strictly limited by fire regulations.

David Miles ARPS

Dear members

As many of you will know it was our sad duty last night to announce the death of our immediate past president David Miles. David was a lovely man and a gifted photographer, and someone who was deeply committed to our club; he will be greatly missed by many of us.

As we mentioned, we will be organising some events to properly celebrate his photography and contribution to our club later in the year. But in the meantime you can enjoy some of David's superb black and white photography in the club's gallery - here.

Club members excel in the Surrey Photographic Association Golden Jubilee and Biennial Exhibition 2010

We are pleased to announce that of the 157 images entered by BHCC members this year (out of a total of 1748 entries, from 221 individuals across 28 clubs) a staggering 46 have been accepted. This shows once again the quality of work produced by our members.

Bob Webzell in particular should be congratulated on his award of a PAGB ribbon!

We also had 6 Highly Commended and 4 Commended images.

David Leach - Photoshop Actions and Plug-ins - Lecture Notes

David entertained the club last night with tales of Photoshop Actions and Plug-ins. We are sure many members attending the lecture will want to follow up on some of David's techniques so we are making his lecture notes available for download.
