HOW TO ENTER YOUR PHOTOGRAPH FOR ‘HOPE, ACTUALLY’
‘HOPE, ACTUALLY’ is a Brighton & Hove Camera Club project aimed at placing uplifting photographs where they are most needed – hospitals, care homes, surgeries and so on.
The idea is to provide large, colourful, uplifting, optimistic and generally therapeutic images, to any of our local public institutions who serve the general public.
The cost of providing the prints will be down to the recipient, however the club does have a budget to help those institutions that struggle financially. Copyright will remain with the original photographer/author. Each picture can carry the name of the photographer plus optional contact details, and the BHCC logo and website information.
With regards the prints (size, format, framling, etc.), we will work with each recipient to give them what works for them, rather than dictate what they must have.
We aim to pilot this idea over the next 1-2 years, with a view to expanding it if it becomes successful.
With Hope Actually being the clubs project for 2021/22, with the support of the Tides Group, the beach front exhibition will be made up of HA images. So to get your picture on the sea front, you must enter HA images via the links below. All the pictures will be judged and the best put forward for the beach exhibition. If you want to support HA but not have your picture on the beach, it’s not a problem.
THEMES FOR ‘HOPE, ACTUALLY’
We hope that every member of BHCC would like to contribute at least one image to this cause, and more if they wish.
If you have a suitable image you’d like to put in, it’s easy. All you have to do is provide us with a .jpg which is suitable to fit the A1 size requirement (see below) – and of any theme you like that fits the following criteria.
Anything can be considered – from the street belly-laugh, through to colourful & oddball – and even animals / wildlife & the generally aesthetic & beautiful!
Remember, the idea is to cheer people up, so please avoid obscure, inaccessible, over-abstract, gritty, sombre, or dark & dangerous ideas!
Photographs for ‘Hope, Actually’ can reflect any of the following qualities – though your own ideas are most welcome.
– All forms of diversity & inclusion
– Humour for kids / grown-ups / senior citizens
Test out your ideas on others – if they work well for them, they will for most people. You can submit a panel of up to 10 separate images, and we are open to most ideas.
When we reach 100 entries, all pictures submitted will be reviewed by a volunteer selection committee made up of club members, whose decisions will be final.
