Project Description
This exhibition is a collaboration between the Brighton and Hove Camera Club, and Sussex Neuroscience – a community of researchers at the University of Sussex and the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, who work on understanding the brain. The exhibition theme of Mental Health is very broad, and we asked the photographers to capture their own interpretations.
What do you see in the images? Some may reflect your own inner state, something you have experienced, or your concerns about those around you. Others experiment with visual depictions of how our minds work, and how we might perceive the world differently to each other. Some of the images may give inspiration about how to keep our minds and bodies healthy, taking time for ourselves, and the importance of reaching out to others.
Through this exhibition we hope to raise awareness of how an understanding of the health of our brains and minds can help to improve our quality of life – whether through scientific research and healthcare, or through our own thoughts, actions and creativity.
The exhibitions forms part of the British Neuroscience Association (BNA) Festival of Neuroscience, taking place in Brighton in April 2023
